Maternity Portraits Maymont Park

I’m so excited that spring seems to finally be showing itself around here in Virginia. This weekend was spent celebrating families and it couldn’t have been a better weekend. I met with Justin and Juwon at Maymont park in Richmond Virginia on Saturday for their Maternity portraits. They are expecting their first child, a baby girl named Gabrielle. As I’ve shared over the last year about my Maternity|Newborn sessions I’ve mentioned multiple times that all the expected babies were boys, ALL BOYS you guys! Juwon messaged me and when I asked if the baby was a boy she surprised me when she said GIRL. Don’t get me wrong, I love ALL babies but if you guys could see the amazing perfect girl newborn outfits and props that I’ve splurged on you would see why I was ecstatic to see the word GIRL.

Juwon and I attended school in the same county from middle school to high school and I know what an amazing, compassionate, and patient woman she is! She can also SING and bring you to tears with how beautiful her voice is. When she messaged me to inquire about her portraits and let me know that they were expecting I could already envision the mother she would be. Loving, nurturing, & a biggest fan. I thought about how blessed Gabby will be having her Mother sing to her as she grows. I can only pray that Gabby inherits her mothers amazing singing ability. When I say she’s amazing I mean it and her voice is no word shorter than just that. I absolutely adore when I am asked to photograph people that I grew up with or around, it’s like a mini reunion and there are so many memories to be shared all over again. I’m very grateful for that.

Not knowing Justin or meeting him before I loved watching him supporting Juwon during their session. Making sure she and Gabby were safe at all times and never leaving her side. I’m so excited to be apart of this season with them and can’t wait to see the parents they become. I’m already calling that Gabby will have Daddy around her finger the moment he lays eyes on her, as a Daddy’s girl I know how this is and trust me it’s not a bad thing at all. I loved getting to talk with Justin about how he and Juwon met and about his family. This genuine and caring man couldn’t be more perfect for Juwon and Gabby. You should have seen his smile and eyes when he told me he and Juwon were college sweethearts, talk about a proud man. Justin you are so awesome!

If you’ve had a session with me or you’ve been to a session and seen me in action you are well aware that when I am excited about lighting or a pose or my couple… I can’t contain that happiness. I always tell myself I am not going to share a glimpse of what we are capturing and save it as a surprise but let’s be real here, I always fail at that. I love my people and our time together and I want them to know every second of our time together how amazing they are and how much I appreciate them and our relationship. I can not wait for Gabby to be here and not only because of all the cute goodies I have for her but because I can’t wait for Juwon and Justin to share their love with their tiny human and to get to witness that. New love truly is my passion and I can’t think of anything in this world great than the love of a child.
