Lauren & Michael | Married

April 18, 2019

I am so excited that my wedding season kicked off this past weekend. After what seems like a long break from wedding season, I am chomping at the bit to get it started again. Once you make it through a wedding season you feel a sense of relief and breathing room. It’s what most wedding vendors long for after half the season is over but then once we get that break it’s like we just can’t wait for the chaos to begin again. I myself live off of chaos and caffeine so if my schedule isn’t jammed packed then I don’t know what to do with myself. Once we get through December-early March it’s like an adrenaline rush planning for the first weddings of the season. I love all of my couples so I think after sometimes more than a year of planning with them I’m just really anxious to get to their day and celebrate the official start of their lives together. Remember, total romantic over here and extremely impatient when it comes to starting forever/happily every after as soon as possible.

Lauren & Michael were married April 13, 2019 at Main Street Baptist Church in Emporia Virginia, I was able to second shoot for their photographer Alexis Jones Photography (Lexi). The church is absolutely beautiful and when I saw the cathedral ceilings with exposed beams my brain ran wild with the photo ops. Lauren & Michael decided on a first look as well as having all family and bridal party formals prior to the ceremony. It was such a sweet moment for everyone and the rain stopped with impeccable timing for us. These two have waited two years for their wedding and after learning they’ve had a few setbacks in their wedding planning you could sense the excitement and anticipation from everyone that their day had finally arrived. The reverend made the ceremony absolutely beautiful with his words and readings, I have to admit that to date it is one of my favorites. Having God present in every inch of Lauren & Michael’s day was evident and I couldn’t have been more in my element.

Lauren & Michael’s reception was held at Golden Leaf Commons in Emporia Virginia. When I walked in to photograph the reception I was in complete awe. So many amazing vendors worked so hard to make this place look so elegant and welcoming. I just love Lauren’s style and vision for her wedding design. I knew when I met her that we could most definitely could be BFF’S and she was my kinda girl! There was no detail left out and every inch of the reception hall was planned and set up with love for those who would enter and celebrate Lauren & Michael. From the linens & glassware to the acrylic signs & florals I just couldn’t get enough. Everywhere I turned I had more to photograph and something else I hadn’t seen yet. Totally my element and style, give me all the details all day long any day! Thank you Lexi for trusting me with this part of the day.

As the couple made their entrance and speeches were given it was even more apparent how much these two are loved and how close this community of friends and family were. Everyone was welcoming and showered the couple and each other with love. The couple gave a speech to their guests and I’ll admit that it was hard not to get choked up. I adore when couples show or verbalize their appreciation to everyone who has been involved in their lives and helped shape them into the people they are, they even thanked all of the vendors and people who put so much hard work and effort during the entire wedding planning season and I just couldn’t be more proud that they made a point to make that part first in their speech. A true class act. Lauren & Michael shared their first dance and swept their guests away. It really was a magical moment. I enjoyed my time with this couple and their guests as well as Lexi, she really is so great. Thank you to everyone at their wedding that were so kind and welcoming, it really was a wonderful time!
