Summer Wedding at The Barns at Mattaponi Springs | Casey & Joey’s June Wedding

January 28, 2025

Casey and Joey’s summer wedding at The Barns at Mattaponi Springs in Caroline County, VA, was nothing short of magical. Their June 2024 celebration was filled with heartfelt moments, timeless traditions, and plenty of DIY love. With a picturesque outdoor ceremony and an unforgettable reception, this wedding was a perfect reflection of the coupleā€™s personalities and the love they share.

From sentimental heirlooms to fun, quirky touches like Augie, the coupleā€™s adorable dog (who, letā€™s be honest, stole the show), every detail came together to create a day that was as unique and special as Casey and Joey themselves.

The Personal Touches That Made the Day Special

One of the things that made Casey and Joeyā€™s wedding stand out was the thought and care put into every detail. From sentimental heirlooms to DIY projects, there were so many personal touches that truly told their love story.

A Tribute to Loved Ones: Casey carried a ā€œsomething blueā€ pin, containing a small photo of her late grandmother, Bigmama. The pin was carefully attached to her bouquet, creating a sweet and emotional tribute. Joeyā€™s mother also contributed an Irish sixpence to the tradition of “Something old, something new, something blue, something borrowed, and a silver sixpence for your shoe.” This special keepsake was photographed under Casey’s left shoe for a lovely flat lay shotā€”a tradition ensuring love, happiness, wealth, and health for the couple.

DIY Projects and Family Love: Caseyā€™s creativity shone through in the DIY newspaper programs she made for guests. She also worked closely with her mom, who lovingly baked the wedding desserts. The homemade touches, including a cake topper and a bow made from her motherā€™s dress, added an intimate and personal feel to the wedding day.

Augie: The Star of the Show No wedding day would be complete without the couple’s adorable dog, Augie, who had his own tuxedo for the day. (He might just need his own photoshoot!) Augie was a crowd favorite, and we made sure to capture his cutest moments throughout the day.

The Beautiful Ceremony and Reception of this Summer Wedding at the Barns at Mattaponi Springs

The outdoor ceremony at The Barns at Mattaponi Springs set the perfect backdrop for this coupleā€™s vows. As Joey tried to hold back tears while watching his bride walk down the aisle, the emotion was palpable. The coupleā€™s officiant, a close friend of theirs, added an extra personal touch, making the ceremony even more meaningful.

The dramatic moment when Casey exited the Manor House through the grand front doors was nothing short of cinematic. It was the perfect way to begin their walk down the aisle, and we were there to capture every stunning detail.

The Reception: The reception followed with laughter, joy, and lots of dancing. The couple celebrated with their loved ones, enjoying delicious Mission BBQ catering and celebrating their love all night long. Casey and Joeyā€™s wedding cake, made by Caseyā€™s mom, was not only beautiful but delicious, and the couple couldn’t wait to dig in (especially with Augie on top!).

I believe in capturing the moments that matter most. For Casey and Joey, and their beautiful summer wedding at the Barns at Mattaponi Springs, it was about more than just the big momentsā€”we made sure to preserve the tiny details that told their unique love story. From the close-up shots of their rings and heirlooms to candid reactions from the ceremony and reception, every photo was crafted with care to document their once-in-a-lifetime celebration.
